How much does home care cost in New York?
The cost of home care in New York depends on the level of care needed, the number of hours per week, and whether the client qualifies for insurance coverage. For private-pay clients in the New York metro area, companion and personal care services typically range from $30–$45/hour, while skilled nursing care is $100–$200 per visit. Many families combine private pay with long-term care insurance or other benefits to reduce out-of-pocket costs. We offer a free consultation to walk through your options and help find the most affordable plan for your family.
Does Medicare or Medicaid cover home care services?
Medicare may cover short-term skilled home care, such as nursing visits or physical therapy, when prescribed by a doctor for a specific medical need, but it generally does not cover long-term personal care or companionship. Medicaid can cover certain home care services for eligible individuals in New York State, though coverage varies by plan and program. As a Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA), Elegance at Home primarily serves clients paying privately or through long-term care insurance. Long-term care insurance policies often cover a significant portion of in-home care costs. We are happy to help you review your insurance benefits during a free consultation.
Do you provide home care for people with dementia or Alzheimer’s?
Yes. Elegance at Home provides in-home care for individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other memory-related conditions. Our caregivers are experienced in supporting clients with cognitive decline, helping them maintain safe, structured routines, providing compassionate companionship, and communicating any changes to the family and medical team. Each client receives a personalized Plan of Care developed with their physician and family. We also offer respite care so family caregivers can take necessary breaks, knowing their loved one is in skilled, compassionate hands.
Do you offer 24-hour or live-in home care?
Yes, Elegance at Home can provide care around the clock, including overnight and/or 24-hour split-shift coverage for clients who need continuous support. Whether your loved one needs a few hours of assistance per week or full-time care, we build a schedule that fits your needs.
Can home care be provided in an assisted living facility, not just at home?
Yes. While our name says “at home,” our caregivers can provide private supplemental care wherever our clients reside, including assisted living facilities, memory care communities, and companion services at skilled nursing facilities. Families often arrange additional one-on-one support for a loved one at a facility to ensure more personalized attention than the facility’s standard staffing can provide. Contact us to discuss how we can support your family’s situation.
How are your caregivers screened and selected?
Every caregiver at Elegance at Home is thoroughly screened before joining our team. Our process includes background checks and fingerprinting through New York State and federal clearance systems, reference verification, medical clearances, and in-person interviews. All aides are trained and certified in accordance with New York State Department of Health requirements. We also maintain ongoing supervision by our registered nursing staff, who regularly review each client’s Plan of Care and ensure our caregivers meet our standards. Learn more on our About Us page.
